No legalese - just real talk.
At Dilettante Press, we take originality seriously. Every submission is checked for plagiarism and AI-generated content.
- Plagiarism is obvious: if it’s copied, we can’t publish it.
- AI-generated content is newer territory, so here’s where we stand:
We will not accept manuscripts that contain more than 30% AI-generated text, or any that include plagiarized material. If our checks raise concerns, we’ll always work with the author to resolve them before making a final decision.
Where AI Fits In
Tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, and others are powerful. They can generate fluent, context-aware writing in many different styles — even imitating your own voice with enough training. Used wisely, they’re helpful. Used as a substitute for authorship, they can undermine both the craft and the credibility of your work.
Why We Limit AI Content
The strength of generative AI lies in the prompt it’s given. The weakness is that it often blends original phrasing with borrowed fragments of existing content — without attribution. That creates risks: unintentional plagiarism, inconsistent tone, or work that lacks depth and originality.
Publishing isn’t just about words on a page. It’s about your perspective, your ideas, and your voice. AI can assist, but it cannot replace those.
The Bottom Line
- You own your writing, and your name goes on the cover.
- We provide the imprint, ISBN, and publishing support that makes your book legitimate.
- For us to stand behind your work, it must be primarily yours.
We welcome the smart use of AI as a tool, but Dilettante Press will always hold the line on authentic authorship.
